Ovulation Calendar

The beauty of an Ovulation Calendar is that it will let you know when you are most likely to get pregnant. And when you are most likely not to get pregnant too. There are plenty of online ovulation calendars which will help you to determine your most fertile days; the days when you are most likely to get pregnant. One simply enters your own unique personal information, and you will be able to find out the very best time of the month for you and your partner to conceive.

Female menstrual cycles are not always predictable, and they are subject to being knocked off course by a variety of events, including flu or undue stress. If you are trying to conceive, then you must first become familiar with your own unique menstrual cycle, and learn to work with it. Almost every woman’s cycle is different, and subject to various outside influences. Keep notes in a personal diary, and become familiar with the changes in your body at different times of your monthly cycle.

Ovulation is a specific phase in your menstrual cycle. It is at this time when your body releases an egg from one of your ovaries. A series of hormones trigger the release of the egg, which then travels down the fallopian tube towards the womb, awaiting fertilization. The experts tell you that it is hard to predict ovulation, but if you keep good details of your last three periods, you will probably see a pattern emerging.

The general assumption is that most women have a cycle of around 28 days in length. But you are not most women, and everyone is different. Your cycle may be from 21 – 35 days in length. A good rule of thumb is that ovulation usually takes place about two weeks before your period starts. But actually, ovulation can take place from day 8 to day 20, depending on the length of your cycle. To find out when you ovulate, you need to look out for specific signs in your body.

Signs to watch out for include tender breasts. Before and during ovulation, your breasts may feel more tender than usual. During ovulation, your basal body temperature will increase slightly. There are special ovulation thermometers available from drug stores everywhere, to pinpoint when your temperature rises. You will need to monitor your temperature every day for a month, at the same time of day, and under the same conditions, to establish a baseline. Many women keep the thermometer beside the bed, and routinely take their temperature before getting up each day. Another predictor of ovulation is the type of mucus present. During ovulation, the mucus changes from opaque or white, to clear, sticky and very stretchy. It is also more abundant.

Many women chart their cycle to determine when they are ovulating. Charting in this way is useful for predicting your period as well as pinpointing the times of the month when you are more likely to conceive. Ovulation prediction kits are now widely available to help you determine when you are ovulating. The test measures the amount of the LH hormone in your urine, allowing you to know when you are ovulating.

So whether you are trying to conceive, or trying not to conceive, an Ovulation Calendar will prove a most valuable tool.

Cure Migraines With Acupuncture

Migraine is a serious neurological disorder that affects millions of people around the world. It is very painful and becomes debilitating when the sufferer is unable to accomplish his normal daily activities due to the pain felt during an attack. The large number of sufferers of this disease has spurred further research to know more about it. Luckily for the migraineurs, more knowledge has resulted in the discovery of new methods of treatment, both conventional and alternative. Although the usual process applied to cure migraines is conventional, alternative ones are catching up. The reason for this is that remedies that fall under the alternative category are more natural and provide lesser side effects. One of these remedies is acupuncture.

Acupuncture is a form of therapy that is being used today to alleviate pain. Its origins come from Oriental Medicine and evolved from principles of Oriental philosophy. The principle behind this therapy is the ability of the body to heal itself. Areas in the body called "meridians" or "acupoints" are stimulated by the insertion of fine, slender needles, with the aim of adjusting one's "vital energy". When the body's energy is in balance, then it can heal itself.

In a recent study done in Italy, the effectiveness of acupuncture in the treatment of migraines was conducted. The results indicated a decrease in the number of attacks experienced by those who were given acupuncture. In addition, no side effects were felt by the patients.

In an acupuncture treatment session, needles are inserted in a patient's acupoints. The needles are then gently manipulated to increase blood flow in the tissues when the small arteries near the needle points dilate. The increased circulation removes a condition referred to as "stagnation". Removal of stagnation has been found to be very effective against chronic illnesses.

To cure migraines, however, the described technique would not be effective since expansion of blood vessels in the head cause migraine attacks. Instead, manipulation of acupoints is limited to the arms and legs and no stimulation is done to the head and neck areas. The procedure is done with the patient sitting up instead of the usual lying position. This minimizes the risk of undesired expansion of blood vessels after the session. The application of an electrical current to the needles is sometimes done to help constrict the arteries.

For migraine prevention, the acupuncture therapy addresses the nervous system, which becomes imbalanced when the person is under emotional stress. In this method, the patient is made to sit and needles are inserted just below the skin in areas within the forearms and lower legs. Manipulation of the needles is done while the patient exhales. This decreases muscle tension and activates a certain part of the nervous system. Muscle tension in the neck and upper back is a cause of migraine as well. Applying needles to these areas to increase blood flow and release tension can also be done.

In spite of its documented success, acupuncture is yet to be recognized as a conventional means to cure migraines. However, migraineurs can take comfort in the fact that they have one more means of treatment available for them. For those who have found acupuncture effective, it is already sufficient.

Exercise Bikes - What's on The Market

There are available two types of exercise bikes. The upright bike is stationary and it resembles a typical road bike. Added stress is put on the joints because the pedals are positioned below the rider. The pedals of the recumbent bike are out in front of the rider so that pedaling is more natural and less stressful on the hips and knees and the seat resembles a chair.

There are other styles of bikes available as well. There are double action upright exercise bikes that have moveable handlebars or arm handles. Your arms as well as your legs are used on this bike. This bike will provide you with aerobic activity and upper body toning. Some variety can be found with resistance bikes also.

The resistance on Direct tension bikes can be adjusted manually. An exercise bike with flywheels has a cycling very much like regular biking. The resistance of air resistance bikes get it by pedaling against the airflow of a fan blade.

Out of all resistance exercise bikes, the magnetic frictionless resistance bikes are the most sophisticated. Resistance bikes are the most advanced resistance bikes. A greater variety of workout levels can be had on this bikes.

The feedback mechanisms show the following readouts: speed, time, distance, total calories and fat burned, program mode, resistance levels, pulse, heart rate, and work out level (RPM, watts, METS, mpm’s, and mph/kph). Your needs and wants will determine the bike you choose buy. Your choice of bikes will also depend on the type of workout you want.

You will get a great cardio workout that focuses on the quadriceps. On a recumbent bike you are seated in a reclining position. Your legs are out in front of you and your back is supported by the seat. The hamstrings and the glutes are given a workout. A recumbent bike is much easier on your lower back.

Upright bikes could come with handlebars the move back and forth in a rowing like motion. This motion will work your arms, your chest, your abs and your back muscles. These bikes will give you a terrific cardiovascular workout as well as a calorie burning experience.

Your size should be matched to the bike. Exercise bikes can be easily adjusted for almost any body type. Exercise bikes are used by people for a variety of reasons. In the off season, cyclists often use them to maintain their level of fitness. Because many people feel embarrassed about exercising in front of people they use them at home.

To promote healing and the regaining of the use of knee and hip joints, physical therapy programs also use exercise bikes. They are also used by some cardiac rehabilitation programs to improve endurance and greater cardiac health.

If you go to Wal-mart, Sears, or sports stores and if you look online you will be able to buy an exercise bike. When buying them from a store it’s much easier to get a bike that matches your space your budget, and your body size. You might not always get what you want when getting online.

The bike may be bigger or smaller and without the exact specs than what you ordered. Ordering online has another issue, the taking delivery of your order. In most cases the delivery company will leave it at your door and you will have to bring it in and put it together.

Unless you contract with someone to do the entire process including setting it up, this is also true of buying it in a store. Service contracts can be purchased in stores like Sears, in case there is a problem. Regardless of your reasons for buying an exercise bike it will only work if you use it.

As with any exercise program check with your doctor and make sure that you are healthy enough to exercise. Your endurance will improve if you start out slow. Be healthy, have fun, and be safe.

Lemons for Asthma Attacks and Other Illnesses

Lemons, they are one of the best fruits to use if you are sick or have asthma. Learn why and how you need to use them if you have asthma

Most people shy away from lemons because they are sour. Or, they make lemon juice and then kill their beneficial effects by adding sugar. Well, here is what your are missing if you don't drink fresh natural lemon aid every morning.

For asthma, lemon juice is great because it,

It is antiseptic - kills germs that hide in your mucus
It destroys bad bacteria that lives in your mouth, stomach, and intestines
It helps to dissolve mucus so when you have a cold or cough you recover quicker. The combination of 8 oz of water and lemon greatly cuts into your thick mucus that builds up in your bronchial tubes.
Helps to cleanse your blood and clean blood makes your lung tisse healthier

Lemons are high in vitamin C and potassium. They also contain plenty of fiber and phytochemcials, which contain antioxidants many of which have not been studied.

Use only lemons that are yellow and don't have any signs of green. You can store lemons in a plastic bag in the refrigerator and they will last for up to 5-6 days. To use these lemons bring them out and let them come to room temperature.

If you have a lot of lemons, you can squeeze the juice and freeze them in ice trays for later use.

If you have acid reflux or ulcers use lemons with caution and use your common sense to decide how much juice to drink. With acid reflux or ulcers use DGL or Mastic gum to clear the H..pyloric bacteria.

Lemons also tend to thin the blood so if you are on drugs that thin the blood, avoid using a lot of lemon juice.

When you have asthma, you can use 3-4 lemons daily. You can use up to ten lemons per day without much problem when you are trying to resolve a health issue. What you can do for asthma is make a thermos drink where you squeeze 4-5 lemons into 32 oz or less of distilled water and drink this juice all day long. Just remember to rinse out your mouth with fresh water after you drink the lemon juice.

Your Guide to Hearing Aids

A hearing aid is an electronic device which is inserted into the outer ear canal. It works by amplifying and clarifying sound waves in order for the patient to experience louder and clearer hearing.

When sound enters the hearing aid, this amazing little device will receive the sound through a microphone and convert it into an electrical signal. This signal will then be amplified and then projected through a speaker into the ear.

Before choosing a hearing aid, consult with your doctor on the right hearing aid for you. After a diagnosis, if you are in need of a hearing aid, your doctor will prescribe one of four different types of devices:

1. In-the-Ear (ITE): These little gadgets hide inside the outer ear and serve relief from mild to severe hearing impairments. ITEs are usually pretty durable but can be damaged by ear wax, drainage and any other liquids.

2. Behind-the-Ear (BTE): These devices are fitted behind the ear and are connected to an earmold which is hidden inside the outer ear. This type of hearing aid is usually worn by people with mild to profound hearing loss and can also be damaged by ear wax and/or drainage.

3. In-the-Canal (INC): Fully customizable and available in two sizes, people use this device for mild to moderately severe hearing impairment. these devices are so small, they easily fit completely inside the ear canal. Unfortunately, they are difficult to remove or adjust and are not recommended for young children.

4. Body Aid: This device is strictly for people with profound hearing loss. The aid itself is worn on a belt or in a pocket and is connected to the ear by means of a wire. this is not usually recommended because of the size but is very effective because of the many more options it allows.

Many hearing aid providers are available online. although, some considerations should be thought of before buying hearing aids such as design, cost, refunds, warranty, and customer service. We recommend browsing around for the best deals and the best business suited to your personal preference.

Breaking Into a Vegetable Juicing Diet

So you have your new juicer and are ready to make all the vegetable juicing recipes you can. Before you buy lots of different vegetables to juice, you need to know some basics that will help you break into a vegetable juicing diet.

You must integrate vegetable juice into your diet with baby steps. Juicing allows you to absorb more nutrients because the vegetable juice is already removed for the pulp for your intestines to take them in. However, not all vegetable juice can be digested that easily, especially the green leafy vegetable juice that is very rich. It is better to use vegetables that are easy to consume first, such as celery, zucchini, beets, carrots, and cucumbers.

Use recipes that are based on a combination of these. After a while, when there are no issues with digestion, slowly add in some dark greens like broccoli, lettuce and spinach. Eventually, you should have no problems with almost all vegetables.

It is not a good idea stick with the same few vegetable juicing recipes that you enjoy. Try out juicing recipes that include vegetables you may not like. Reduce the amount it calls for if you need to and use other fruits and vegetables you like to mask the taste. That way, you won't get too used to a narrow diet. Your body may have a difficult time adjusting to changes in your eating habits otherwise. You also insure that you are getting a many vitamins and minerals. I would suggest using your favorite juicing recipes every 3 days or so, and the other days to try new things.

Many people don't like to deal with the taste of vegetable juice because it is may be too rich in nutrients and too bitter. If it is bitter, then sweeten it a little! Add some carrots and beets. Alternatively, you can use apples, grapes and other fruits to give it an enjoyable taste. If it's too dense, dilute it with water.

Fish Oil benefits for Women

As any woman will testify, it's not easy being a woman; they are perhaps a mother or a grandmother, a career girl, or a soccer mom, and they are still not regarded as an equal among men. Possibly because they have more emotional strength and endurance, and smell much sweeter too, but what do I know. Anyway, despite the differences they may have compared to men, they still suffer from similar health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, depression, and cancer. How these health problems are handled is up to the patient.

One way to handle them, is to wait until you begin to suffer from anyone of the above conditions, or indeed another condition, and then seek medical treatment. Quite possibly something a man might opt to do, but perhaps not a choice a women would make if they had hindsight on their side.

And because you are reading this article, hindsight happens to be on your side. You could indeed opt for something that could provide protection from the above mentioned medical conditions, before they make their initial appearance. And, as you have probably guessed, taking fish oil happens to be a choice you could make. Specific health benefits of fish oil for women include reduced PMS and menopause symptoms and reduced risk of breast cancer. Something all women, I'm sure would appreciate, perhaps other halves might join them in that appreciation too!

Every single 'leading' cause of death for a woman has two things in common. These are of course that they're degenerative and preventable. Ranking, I feel, is immaterial, as I don't believe that winning the competition for most degenerative disease isn't exactly something to be proud of. There is however something you can do to remedy these preventable diseases, and that is get more omega 3 fatty acids into your diet.

Research continually affirms the power of these tiny, natural nutrients. It confirms, that if you increase your omega 3 intake, you can help to prevent heart disease, cancer, depression, diabetes, memory loss, Alzheimer's, PMS, dry skin, and much more.

So, with all these benefits of fish oil for women, would you really decide not to take them for your health?

Placenta Stem Cells Successfully Treats Parkinson's Disease

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a chronic neurological disorder that produces symptoms such as confusion, decreased dexterity, insomnia, lack of motor coordination, memory loss, shaking, stiff muscles, and tremors. Stem cells are an undifferentiated group of cells, which, depending on their surrounding conditions, are capable of developing into other types of cells such as liver cells, kidney cells, brain cells, or any of the other 260 different types of cells that make up the human body.

When Dr. Mehmet Oz appeared on Oprah Winfrey's show in March 2009, he showed a section of the human brain where lines are not present in a person who has Parkinson's disease. He believes that stem cells could be placed in that area to regenerate the damaged brain. He predicted that the use of stem cells to treat Parkinson's disease would begin in about eight years. What he obviously does not realize is that a clinic in Mexico has been using placental stem cells derived from placenta (afterbirth) to successfully treat Parkinson's for 18 years! That's about how long actor Michael J. Fox (known in the early '80s as Alex P. Keaton on the hit show Family Ties) has been living with the illness.

Since Mr. Fox is an advocate for stem cell treatment, it surprises me that he hasn't taken advantage of treatments offered in other countries. Maybe he doesn't know the treatment is available. But it is, and ISCI founder Rita Alexander is a first-hand witness of the results seen in patients who have been treated for cancer, cerebral palsy, dermatomyositis, diabetes, hepatitis C, HIV, immune deficiency, kidney disorders, multiple sclerosis, migraines, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson's, retinitis pigmentosa, rheumatoid arthritis, spina bifida, and stroke. Rita has personally received several treatments to relieve the debilitating effect of rheumatoid arthritis.

James Devlin is a resident of Hawaii, but his paradise became a nightmare 15 years ago when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Unwilling to accept the reality of continual mental and physical decline, he sought answers around the world to stop the disease from taking over his brain and his life. His symptoms were the standard Parkinson's package including stiff muscles, decreased dexterity and coordination, insomnia, memory loss, confusion, and tremors in his arms which made it difficult for him to feed himself. Normal daily activities such as dressing, eating, and writing became increasingly challenging. James was prescribed a long list of medications to manage the increasing number of symptoms. Two and a half years ago, he found the road to recovery from PD at the International Stem Cell Institute (ISCI).

When Rita first met Mr. Devlin, he was very stiff and rigid, battling constant tremors as he made his way through the airport. When he returned to the clinic six months after his first placental stem cell treatment, his body was relaxed, he walked with ease, the excessive tremors were gone, and a big smile replaced the vacant facial expression he had just a few months before. After several additional stem cell treatments, James Devlin has been able to eliminate all Parkinson's medication and spends his days surfing in paradise. At 67 years old, he enjoys a 75 percent recovery.

Unfortunately, not everyone is physically and financially able to travel to Mexico. That is why Rita Alexander started ISCI in April 2008. She wishes many more people who are suffering with Parkinson's disease knew there were stem cell treatments that could change the course of their lives. ISCI assists with patient education, pre- and post-treatment support, travel logistics, and financial matters regarding treatment. Her goal is to help people access treatment that is already available and to bring the treatment to the U.S.

For more information about ISCI or to arrange a consultation or schedule an appointment, please visit http://www.iStemCelli.com or contactRita Alexander, Executive Director at International Stem Cell Institute, at 800-609-7795.
